Job Description

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine inspection activities on piping fabrication and erection activities like fit up, weld visual, sandblasting, loop clearances, etc.
  • Perform/witness NDT inspection activities on plant piping like radiography, UT, hardness, PWHT charts, ferrite testing, PMI, etc.
  • Review of QAP & ITP’s submitted by vendor/ contractors.
  • Review of NDT procedures submitted by the contractors.
  • Witnessing the welder qualification test for the project/plant job.
  • To witness the PSV testing performed by the contractor/CWS on the test bench.
  • Incoming material inspection along with MTC for pipes and other bulk bought-out items and conduct PMI when required.
  • Receive permits for all inspection jobs and ensure compliance with all safety requirements for the jobs.
  • Will be responsible for carrying out statutory inspection jobs in plants.
  • Need to carry out base level thickness monitoring jobs and ultrasonic thickness measurement whenever required.
  • Supervise all inspection activities performed in Plant/workshop on-call basis.
  • Interact with various departments, like Mechanical/Process/Stores/Safety to execute inspection jobs effectively with respect to quality, safety.
  • Provide necessary assistance to other departments for handling plant emergencies.
  • To share the knowledge and findings acquired during the job execution with technicians & colleagues.
  • To attend training programs organized based on the identified needs for development.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all PTW conditions. Ensure Use of all necessary PPE’s as mentioned and as required for the jobs.
  • Follow the guidelines of Safe Work Practices as per Plant HSE Standards.
  • Identify and inform any unsafe conditions to the job In-charge / Engineer, senior staff, Management and raise Near Miss report.
  • Timely reporting to duty on time with no un-authorized absence.
  • Continuation of the job on overtime, if the requirement arises and instructed by immediate superiors.

Qualifications

  • Engineering Degree in Mechanical with 3-5 years of experience or Diploma with 10 years in Fertilizer / Petrochemical / continuous process Chemical / Power plant.
  • Should have level-II certification with the required knowledge on Radiography testing, Ultrasonic testing, Dye penetrant testing, and Magnetic particle examination.
  • Should have basic knowledge on piping & equipment codes and standards.

Additional Information

  • Knowledge of different types of static equipment mainly exchanger & pressure vessel is a must.
